A closer look at what's inside our Scalp & Hair Health Serum...
Known to provide a range of benefits, rosemary leaf oil has been formulated into our hair serum to promote the health of both your scalp and hair. Not only does it help to prevent damage and breakage by strengthening the hair strands, rosemary oil is also known to help encourage hair growth by improving blood flow and circulation to your scalp and the hair follicles. Rosemary oil is known to have anti-inflammatory, as well as anti-microbial properties.
Bisabolol, naturally derived from the oil of candeia wood, is also featured in our scalp oil as it is known for it's skin soothing, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Plus it can help to encourage hair growth.
Our styling habits and heat exposure play a vital role in our hair health. To help protect your hair from heat damage, we've scientifically formulated grapeseed oil, sunflower seed oil and jojoba esters into our Scalp & Hair Health Serum. Unlike many hair products, our Sozo Hair Health range, including our hair serum, is free from silicones and utilises natural ingredients like these to protect and condition your hair.
Unlike many hair serums and oils, our Scalp & Hair Health Serum has been formulated to be lightweight, making it perfect for styling and protecting wet or dry hair. Specifically, it is the ultra-light oil emollient used as a natural alternative to silicones that provides the lightweight formula that can be easily worked into the hair.
Formulated with aloe barbadensis leaf extract, beetroot extract, macadamia seed oil, baobab seed oil, argan oil and more, our Scalp & Hair Health Serum will leave you with hydrated, conditioned, shiny, smooth and protected hair.
Your Questions, Answered
To experience heat protection and, overall, smoother, shinier hair, it is essential to apply our hair oil after washing, before blow drying or using a heated styling tool. Each time you use heated tools like a straightener or curling wand, our Scalp & Hair Health Serum can start to evaporate off your hair, which means reapplying each time before using excessive heat will provide as much protection as possible. Always remember the importance of washing your scalp and hair regularly to avoid a build-up of natural oil, dirt and styling products.
Alternatively, if you have frizzy or dry hair, massage a couple of drops into your hands as needed and gently smooth your hair with our oil, even when not using heat, to experience hydration and added shine.
When using as a pre-wash scalp and hair treatment, you can apply our hair serum to help encourage hair growth at least once a week or as often as your scalp and hair require. Rosemary oil is known to improve blood flow and circulation to the hair follicles to help stimulate hair growth and is known to provide enhanced results with consistent and long-term use.
How often you use our hair oil will depend on your hair type, texture and styling methods. With continued use, it is important to monitor your scalp and hair health and adjust your usage of our serum, if necessary, to meet your specific scalp and hair needs.
Being an oil-based product, it is always best to start by applying only a small amount of our natural hair serum, then gradually apply more if needed. For fine or thin hair types, we recommend applying 2 to 3 drops to damp or dry hair before styling, and 4 to 5 drops for thicker, frizzier hair. Each and every person will apply a unique amount of our hair serum depending on specific hair types and conditions.
When applying as a pre-wash scalp and hair oil treatment, you can apply more generously to cover all sections of your scalp, as well as your ends. Leave in for at least 30 minutes or up to about 2 hours.
The short answer to this question is; yes! Our Scalp & Hair Health Serum is a lightweight hair oil formulated to provide protection and hydration to all hair types, as well as smooth and reduce frizz without the heavy or greasy oil feeling. However, when using it before or after styling on damp or dry hair, avoid applying directly to your scalp as it is an oil based product. When applying as a pre-wash treatment, our scalp serum can be applied to nourish and soothe all scalp and hair types. There are many unique causes of oily scalps; however, all scalp types need nourishment and hydration to remain healthy and support good hair health.
Just like any haircare product applied to the scalp, we always recommend you take a close look at our ingredient lists and Sozo Hair Health Ingredient Glossary if you know you have sensitivities to certain ingredients.

We have not added any fragrances or perfumes into the formula of our hair serum; however, it has a subtle scent of rosemary oil, which has been specifically chosen because it is known to help encourage hair growth.
This subtle rosemary scent provides a relaxing, spa-like experience whenever you apply our hair oil as a pre-wash treatment. However, this scent is not noticeable when applying small amounts to damp or dry hair before or after styling.
