So, we’ve curated a list of easy hairstyles, tutorials and hacks you can try for this Valentine’s Day (and beyond). Whether you have short hair, long hair or only have very limited styling experience, there is something for you to try and enjoy.
Love Heart Half Up Hairstyle
If a cute but subtle heart shaped half up hairstyle doesn’t say ‘Valentine’s Day’ in an elegant and sophisticated way, then we don’t know what does. This half up half down hairstyle only takes a couple of minutes and all you need is 2 small clear elastics. There’s no braiding involved, only two small ponytails that create this elegant hairstyle suitable for almost all hair lengths and types. Here’s what you need to do, but to watch the full tutorial showing exactly how to achieve this style, click here:

1. Take one small piece of hair from either side of your face, at the front of your hairline.
2. Join these two small pieces of hair at the back of your head and use your first elastic to create a small ponytail.
TIP: Make sure you create clean sections with your hair because, if there are a few hairs not where they should be, the twisting of your ponytails will become more difficult later on.
3. Repeat this process to create your second ponytail underneath the first. Before doing this, however, take hold of the first ponytail and carefully secure it with a clip on top of your head, in order to create room for your second ponytail. This will help you to avoid getting the ends of your hair from the first ponytail tied into the second ponytail.
4. After you have two small ponytails, one on top of the other, take one ponytail and twist it inwards, feeding the ends of your hair up over top of your elastic, through the part of your hair, and pulling them through completely. Repeat this process with the second ponytail.
5. Take the second twisted ponytail (the lowest ponytail) then feed it up underneath the top ponytail, until you’ve pulled the ponytail completely through for it to sit on top.
6. Holding the elastic of the second ponytail that is now sitting on top, gently tug at the two pieces of hair feeding into the elastic. This is what will create the love heart shape in your hair.
7. That’s it! The hardest part of the style is complete and all you have to do is make any minor adjustments to ensure the style is sitting exactly how you want it to look. Having a soft curl or wave in your hair before starting this style will give a really beautiful look when you’ve completed the hairstyle.
Claw Clip Up Do
This is a super simple up do hairstyle that only requires a hair tie and a claw clip of your choice. It is the claw clip in this hairstyle that will really shine, so the right clip is what will make this an elegant style for Valentine’s Day. You might like to choose a claw clip that is a soft pink or red colour, or any other colour/style you feel says ‘Valentine’s Day.’ Click here to watch the full tutorial demonstrating exactly what to do or follow these steps below:

1. Tie your hair as if you were creating a ponytail but don’t pull the ends of your hair all the way through your elastic on the last loop of your hair tie. This half ponytail can be at any height that you prefer, but you’ll see the best result with a ponytail centred in the middle of your head.
2. Divide the half ponytail into two and position the two half sections until one is vertically above the other.
3. Use one hand to hold your parted hair in place, then with your other hand, grab your claw clip.
4. Place and secure your claw clip over the middle of the two parts of hair. This will result in the claw clip sitting in the middle of your head with a looped section of hair on top and underneath the claw clip. The size of these two looped sections will depend solely on your hair length and thickness.
5. Depending on your hair length, the ends of your hair (coming from the half ponytail you created at the start) may still be visible, sitting below your claw clip. It is a personal choice if you’d like to leave these small ends out for a more effortlessly messy up do. Alternatively, you can gather those ends with one hand, gently open and lift one side of your claw clip and tuck those ends up into the clip to be hidden completely.
6. This style can be as messy or as neat as you prefer. So, experiment with what type of look you want to achieve.
Full & Bouncy Half Up Ponytail
If you’re looking for a simple but sophisticated half up half down ponytail hairstyle, then look no further than this style for Valentine’s Day. This is the best way to create a full, bouncy and voluminous looking ponytail to pull your hair back while still enjoying the benefits of having your hair down. Watch the tutorial here for your best results or follow these steps:

1. Section your hair in two and tie the top half into a ponytail.
2. Take hold of your ponytail and gently loosen it away from your scalp.
3. Just above the hair tie of your ponytail, create a small part in your hair and feed your ponytail through that part, tucking it underneath and coming up over top until the ends of your hair have been fed through the part completely.
4. Carefully tighten your ponytail to sit against your head.
5. Toss the ends of your ponytail forward, grab a small claw clip (the size you will need will depend on your hair thickness and volume) and secure it on top of the hair tie of your ponytail.
6. When you toss your ponytail back over, your hair should be covering the claw clip that has now added instant volume to your ponytail. Using a small but strong claw clip will make it easier to cover the clip completely with your ponytail while still achieving a voluminous, bouncy looking pony.
7. Once again, this style will look particularly bouncy and elegant if your hair has already been styled with volume or a soft curl.
Effortlessly Elegant Messy Bun
If you’re short on time, maybe don’t have freshly washed hair or simply want to style your hair up in a stunning up do that will look beautiful all day and into the night, then you must try this messy bun. You only need one hair tie, but it must be firm to create structure while still having enough stretch to complete the bun. This hairstyle does involve some coordination at first, so take a look at our tutorial before following these steps. But don’t worry, once you’ve seen the tutorial and practiced it for yourself, you will be able to quickly navigate each and every step to create this elegant messy bun.

1. Tie your hair into a high ponytail, but before you tie your hair with your elastic for the last time to finish off the ponytail, you need to hold your hair tie out to one side.
2. Holding your hair tie out to the side with one hand, split your ponytail in half with your other hand. Once you have two sections in your ponytail, allow one to fall naturally and toss the other section of hair forward to rest on top of your head.
3. Gently take the top section of hair and move it slightly towards the base of your ponytail (your hair tie) until you create a small loop. Then repeat this to create another small loop with the bottom section. After you’ve done this, you should have one hand holding both sections of hair which now creates the shape of your bun.
4. Use the hair tie you’ve been holding out to the side to tie and secure the two looped sections together which instantly builds the bun shape.
5. Take the ends of your hair (from each of the two looped sections now in your bun) then gently twist and tuck those ends back into the hair tie of your bun. This will make your bun thicker and will secure any loose hairs or ends that were previously hanging out.
6. Gently pull and loosen your bun until you are completely happy with its size, shape and overall look.
