Sozo Australia - Natural Shampoo Bubbles

3 ways you can get the most out of your chemical free shampoo

Shampooing your scalp is one of the most important steps in your hair care routine. Ensuring your scalp is effectively cleaned and nourished is essential to great scalp health, plus it enables you to get the very best results from your conditioner and hair mask or treatment.

Traditional VS Chemical Free Shampoo

We can all agree that one of the best parts of shampooing our hair is achieving that rich lather, foaming and cleaning experience on our scalps. However, this lather can come at a cost. In many standard, chemical-based shampoos, this foaming experience is enabled by harsh sulphates formulated into the shampoo which, overtime, can strip out your natural sebum (oil). After long term use, this can dry out your hair, impacting your overall scalp and hair health, as well as the ageing process of your hair.

This is why natural shampoos are formulated without any sulphates or other chemicals. Removing sulphates can impact the overall lather of the all natural shampoo. However, our Australian made Sozo Hair Health Shampoo has been scientifically formulated with sulphate free surfactants to still provide that rich, cleaning experience without any harsh chemicals or hidden nasties. This, ultimately, is safer for your scalp, hair and overall health.

To ensure you get the very best performance out of a chemical free shampoo, like our Hair Health Shampoo, it’s recommended you implement these three simple steps when washing your hair.

1. Saturate your hair before applying the chemical free shampoo

The very first step to effectively cleaning your scalp is to ensure your scalp and hair are completely saturated with water. When in the shower, allow the water to run over your entire head, as this will help you when it comes time to massage the natural shampoo into your scalp.

2. Use your hands to work the shampoo and apply it evenly on your scalp

Before applying our Australian made shampoo, it’s also important to work the product in your hands, to start the lathering process and ensure that the chemical free shampoo is applied evenly to all parts of your scalp. Although this is an important step, be sure not to over-work the shampoo in your hands. You want plenty of product to be massaged into your scalp, not just the shampoo foam. Once the sulphate free shampoo is applied evenly, use your fingertips to complete a gentle massage on your scalp.

3. Use a generous amount and always double shampoo

If you find that some parts of your scalp have not been entirely covered, use an extra application of shampoo before rinsing, to leave your scalp completely clean. With a chemical free shampoo, like our Sozo Hair Health Shampoo, it is recommended you use slightly more product than not enough because the build-up on your scalp needs to be removed, and, once again, our products do not contain harsh sulphates, so your hair will not dry out using generous amounts of shampoo.

If you have been using chemical based hair care or leave-in products like dry shampoo, for example, it is always beneficial to do two washes with our all natural shampoo. Traditional, chemical based hair products can leave a build-up on your scalp and can, potentially, interfere with your scalp’s natural oil flow, which may cause further scalp irritations and concerns in the future. Therefore, it is vital to use enough shampoo and completely clean your scalp and hair.
